Student Service

  • The Dean of Students Office (DOS) is a central place for students, parents, faculty, and staff to seek assistance in navigating the complex issues of campus life; receive support; evaluate individual needs and review options for problem solving; and learn about available resources for a student struggling with a challenge or unmet need. Dean of Students staff members provide developmentally appropriate assistance to individual students and student communities who are experiencing life situations that pose a barrier to taking full advantage of their St.Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College experience and assist students. Deans of students office is also working with different governmental and non-governmental organizations to support students in need of welfare and related issues.

    The Dean of Students staff members possess an effective understanding of University policies, procedures, and community life and can work with individual students, student groups, parents, staff, and faculty to address conflicts, eliminate barriers impacting a student’s pursuit of educational and personal goals, and identify and connect with campus and community resources that promote restoration and success. Staff members work cooperatively with students to identify and plan strategies to address areas of concern or unmet needs and to affect problem resolution.

    Generally, Dean of student has two primary responsibilities. First, to provide assistance and support services to students and the University community. The second is to manage the University’s academic and students misconduct systems.

  • Objectives of the union

    1. To represent the entire student and to articulate student’s community interests and concerns in teaching and learning process.
    2. To strength the unity of the student community.
    3. To strengthen and facilitate harmonized relationship between different staffs, other organs, and student community.
    4. To motivate, organize and manage students to be active participant in the country’s development and research activities.
    5. To oversee proper designation and application of policies and strategies that further enhances knowledge and prosperity of the student and the college.
    6. To build a continuous and trustful co-operation between students and the college.

    Mission

    1. Realizing teaching-learning process that accommodates participation, interests and concerns of students and the country.
    2. Building students unity and accommodating diversity.
    3. Making the college staff and different organs to act in harmony with the students’ community.
    4. Encouraging students that have a motivation to participate in the country’s development and seek a way how.
    5. Destining a model medical college and prosper knowledgeable students, that bring development to the country.

    Form and organizational structure

    1. The St. Paul’s hospital millennium medical college students’ union comprise the general assembly and the executive board.
    2. Form of governance of the students’ union shall be democratic and parliamentarian.

    • Students’ service committee head
    • Academic committee head
    • Women affairs head
    • Sport and recreation head
    • Public relation head
    • Discipline and student safety committee
    • Treasurer

    Powers and functions of the executive board

    • Executive board is the policy making body of the students’ union.
    • The board shall be responsible for planning and overseeing the execution of activities and projects of the union.
    • The board shall have the authority to create any special and/or ad hoc committees and sub-committees’ or positions needed based on circumstance.
    • The board shall be responsible for proposing the union’s budget and provide the same to the general assembly for approval.
    • The board shall approve annual report of the activities and financial standing of the union prepared by the executive heads to be presented to the general assembly.

    The president

    1. The president of St. Paul’s hospital millennium medical college students’ union is an officer with the highest executive power.
    2. The president is responsible for the activities of the union.
    3. The president is accountable to the members of the general assembly.
    4. Upon his election, the president, before commencing the responsibility, shall make a declaration of loyalty, to the constitution and the union in the following words by the provost of the college 

    Public relation head; powers and duties

    1. Shall edit and publicize quarterly newsletter of the union.
    2. Shall increase awareness of the members of the union on necessary issues through pamphlet, bulletins and magazines.
    3. Shall deliver reception service to guests of the union.
    4. Shall control the union’s mini media.
    5. Shall present its budget for consideration.
    6. Shall present annual and quarterly report of its performance to executive board and/or to general assembly up on request.

  • Sports and recreation committee; powers and duties

    1. Shall promote indoor and outdoor recreational facilities such as gym, basketball court, volley ball, table tennis and others to be the best standard.
    2. Shall organize inter college/school competitions and various cup events.
    3. Shall coordinate and organize recreational programs.
    4. Shall promote quality of services given by the students’ lounge by equipping it with television sets, video players, and other facilities.
    5. Shall present sport and recreation committee’s budget for consideration by the executive board.
    6. Shall present annual and quarterly report to the executive board and/or general assembly upon request.

  • Clubs and associations Head; powers and responsibilities

    1. Shall oversee and control club performance of their activities complied with their objective and mission.
    2. Shall Endeavour to provide the necessary facilities and facilitate conditions for clubs in coordination with the union and concerned authorities.
    3. Shall facilitate conditions for newly established clubs.
    4. Shall co-ordinate participation of clubs in various celebrations held in the campus.
    5. Shall coordinate inter club relations and collaboration.
    6. Shall present budget for consideration by the executive board.
    7. Shall present annual and quarterly report to the executive board and/ or general assembly upon request.

  • Discipline committee; powers and responsibilities

    1. Shall strength the security system of the college for the wellbeing of the student community
    2. Shall charge and pass a decision upon accused students in accordance with the disciplinary rule of the college.
    3. Shall have the power to follow up students’ discipline in the campus.
    4. Shall give counseling service for improperly acting students.
    5. Shall have the power to stop various acts of students which disturb peace and security of the student community.
    6. Shall Endeavour to prepare seminars which shall enhance ethics and morality of the students.
    7. It shall work in cooperation with campus police to fulfill the aforementioned duties.
    8. It shall present discipline committees budget for consideration by the executive board.
    9. It shall present annual and quarterly report of its performance to the executive board and/or general assembly upon request.

  • Students’ services committee; powers and responsibilities

    1. It shall control the quality and quantity of food and its confirmation with the regulation of standard of food supply.
    2. It shall have power to be a member in college cafeteria advisory and quality control committee.
    3. It shall prepare food menu in collaboration with cafeteria service heads.
    4. It shall oversee weather the budget allocated for food service is utilized according to the law and report such to the executive board.
    5. It shall control the sanitation of cafeteria workers, water, food supply and meaning utensils.
    6. It shall facilitate conditions for the enhancement of health service delivered to the students.
    7. It shall oversee and control appropriate utilization of resources devised for students’ health service.
    8. It shall present the committees budget for consideration by the executive board.
    9. It shall present annual and quarterly report of its performance to the executive board and/or general assembly upon request.

    Women affair committee; powers and responsibilities

    1. It shall organize capacity building programs to women.
    2. It shall work to prevention and protection of women from any form of violence
    3. It shall provide legal assistance to women in cases of violence.
    4. It shall encourage women to participate in decision making processes.
    5. It shall present the committees budget for consideration by the executive board.
    6. It shall present annual and quarterly report of its performance to the executive board and/or general assembly upon request.
